Cecilia Process

thought i'd post an image of Cecilia in progress:

i managed to find an old sheet of hot press paper from freshman year (score!) that was exciting since i've been working on cold press all year. anyway, so far it's in watercolor and acrylic...but i anticipate having to dive into some gouache for the type-- which is incredibly tedious to work on.

i also realize that this is pretty far from the first color studies i posted. in actuality, i've been fighting this piece on the computer for a few days before i finally decided to just attack it in real life (thank god). there are so many more possibilities with real media...not to mention significantly more control over my palette. as a side note-- the photo i took is a little off in terms of color accuracy. i'll shoot it again in daylight when it's done.

  1. I've probably told you a million times that out of all of your work I've always loved your paintings the most. I'm extremely happy to see that you're using real media again. Your work never ceases to shine when you paint. Hope to see more work like this in the future.

  2. thanks sweetheart :) i'm having a lot of fun working with my hands again haha.

  3. cecilia, you're breaking my heart, you're shaking my confidence daily...

terrific piece, i love her design. I'm not sure how to describe it tho. I want to say mystic? maybe exotic? can't wait to see where it goes! you and your crazy traditional media...

  4. i knew someone would think of that song haha

yes, my method of working is rather archaic-- not like all yous youngins with your fancy tablet-whatcha-ma-hoosits.

  5. I still think, "Me and Julio Down by the School yard," is the superior jam. But that's just me.

  6. This is gorgeous! I can't wait to see the final.
